Taken from Green Smoothie Girl :

If you do just ONE thing to improve your family’s health, make it green smoothies! Believe it or not, kids WILL drink it, and you will be surprised that you enjoy them and even learn to crave them.

It’s easy, it takes 10 minutes of my day, and it’s the highest and best use of my kitchen time!

Who eats a big plate of plain, raw, kale, collards, spinach and celery? Mustard greens, arugula, turnip greens, dandelion greens, beet greens, and chard don’t end up in too many salads. Just the time to chew it would be half an hour (oh, and the chopping)! They’re a regular feature in my green smoothies every day. And, in a smoothie, you don’t have to drizzle them with fattening, chemical-laden salad dressings to get them down.

You won’t believe how much green food it has in it: chlorophyll and a powerhouse of enzymes, vitamins, and minerals. Unlike a juicer (which makes such a mess and throws away much of the plant), green smoothie is packed with insoluble plant fiber capable of carrying many times its own weight in toxins out of the body.

I love that it’s “fast food” that’s healthful.

Taken from :

Green Smoothies are simple – take any fresh greens you like and blend them with fruit. My current favorite is spinach with 2 big pears. Spinach builds strong bones! And a clean colon, but Popeye was quiet about that.

Green Smoothies are the most nutritious meal on earth.

Children love the taste of Green Smoothies. Sweet fruit takes away the bitter taste of greens. If your Smoothie tastes too bitter, add more fruit.

Green Smoothies are easy to digest. A blender is the perfect set of teeth. It's a dream come true for your digestive enzymes. Nutrients are absorbed quickly and easily.

Green Smoothies are a complete food. With their fiber, the fruit sugars are absorbed more slowly. You don't get that blood sugar rush you get from juicing.

Green Smoothies are so nutrient dense – has so much nutrition per bite of calorie – it gives your cells the food they are crying for.

A chlorophyll molecule (the green in leaves) differs from a human blood molecule by only one atom. The late Dr Jensen proved in The Healing Power of Chlorophyll that if you're anemic or tired, Green Smoothies will quickly raise your red blood cell count.

The core atom in chlorophyll is magnesium (in human blood it's iron). Cravings are often a sign of magnesium deficiency. Green Smoothies are the best food to end your addiction to cakes, cookies and chocolate. When your body gets the nutrients it needs, cravings go.

Green Smoothies are rich in alkaline minerals like calcium. The high-calcium greens are the fibrous ones such as dandelion, kale and collard. Wherever there's a hard shell – as in teeth, bone, or tough-to-chew greens – you will find calcium.

Green Smoothies are a perfect food for children of all ages, including babies when introducing new food after mother's milk. Be careful and slowly increase the amount of smoothies to avoid food allergies.

Did you know, this is the best-kept secret in the capitalized world? That the richest source of protein for humans is green leaves? Leaf protein is easy to digest, easily assimilated into the tissues, and has none of the harmful side effects of flesh protein.

Green Smoothies contain all essential amino acids.

Believe it or not, Green Smoothies are a good source of Omega-3 unsaturated fat. Green leaves are the plant’s food factory where it manufactures the fats it needs for every one of its cells.

Don't let the amount of green she puts in scare you. haha I don't put that much in - yet. And I don't drink a quart yet either. Usually more like a cup or two. Maybe I should start drinking more...
She also didn't mention that she put water before the greens but it's obviously in there. The water (or juice) makes it blend easier.

Recipe idea:
1 - banana
1/3 cup frozen blueberries
Handful of spinach
2 T sugar or honey
2-3 T water or juice
Ice cubes

More tips:
Orange juice really gives a smoothie a great flavor when used instead of water.
Avocados are packed with nutrients and make the smoothie even more smooth - no you can't taste them. Just add a little extra sweetner.
Strawberry leaves are green - you can't taste them either.
Ice has a lot to do with texture - don't skip it.
You can add veggies like tomatoes, red bell peppers and carrots too!
