I've lost 50 pounds! I want you to join me but don't want it to cost you money or sanity. My project is about real weight loss without deprivation, without spending a ton of money, without sacrificing your health, in an educated way. I started Weight Watchers.

In July, I did the math and realized how much Weight Watchers had already cost me and how much it would cost me to keep using them to my goal. It costs about $10 a lb (approx $40 a month, and I was averaging about a pound a week as they suggest). If I was going to lose 85 lbs, $850 was just too much.
I switched to etools only (no meetings or weigh-ins) at a special (no longer available) price of $12.95 a month.
I steadily lost weight until October when I lost my sisters support due to circumstances beyond their control. That's when I stalled for 5 weeks, and gained the 6th week. At that point, I realized that I was missing support and needed to do something to get through the holidays that were swiftly approaching.

This is the date I picked up several books from the library about weight loss, tossed the counting calories books into the 'return' bag and took a few with me on our Thanksgiving trip. I saw different parts of Weight Watchers plan in those books. I started realizing where their science came from and why it works. I made it through BOTH holidays with LOSSES!
This is when I started using more oils to keep me full longer and cut my carbs back some too. Weight Watchers teaches you to eat less carbs, but I was able to cut them a little more at this point. They also tell you to use 2 teaspoons of healthy oils each day. Not knowing why, it's hard to see it as an important part of weight loss.

The end of 2011 and the first of 2012 held very difficult circumstances, including health problems that kept our lives crazy for a few months and resulted in slowed weight loss. During this time, I struggled with stress eating and tracked most of the time using Weight Watchers etools and ate low/no carb meals occasionally to combat the stress eating.

That's the date I started this blog. For a long time now, I have wanted to find a way to pass this information to my friends and help them lose weight too. At this point, I stopped using Weight Watchers and have been 'winging it' as I try to find my own way of eating for weight loss based on what I've learned.
The goal of this blog is to convey this information to you so you can lose weight too!
